One of my favourite holiday traditions is ringing in the New Year with a New Year's Day concert with Prairie Virtuosi. It’s so wonderful to reconnect musically with my friends and colleagues in my hometown, Saskatoon.
Ironwood Quartet performs music by Philip Glass, Ana Sokolovic, Bryce Dessner, and Praetorius at The Record Centre. An intense set for a full house!
Ironwood, Ottawa's new "take-no-prisoners" string quartet, plays for the first time under the new moniker on Sunday, December 13th, 5pm, at The Record Centre.
Ironwood is Jessica Linnebach and Carissa Klopoushak (violins), Julia MacLaine (cello), and David Marks (viola), a quartet of curious musicians who spend most (but not all) of their musical time playing with the NAC orchestra.
Had the pleasure of playing some tunes with Royal Wood at the NAC yesterday. He's coming back to play with the whole NACO band in May. Thanks for the great shot, Apt613!
The Ukrainian turbo-folk band Tyt i Tam releases its 4th full-length release.
The 7th edition of Ritornello Fest is over! Ritornello is the only chamber music festival in Saskatoon, founded and directed by Carissa Klopoushak and Jacqueline Woods. It takes place annually the last weekend of May in downtown Saskatoon.
I'm throwing a party in Saskatoon on April 16 for #Ritornello7! The Festival runs May 29-31: come see what we've been cooking up!
Carissa Klopoushak and Julia MacLaine perform at the first Ottawa Chamberfest City Series concert, playing Bartok, Honegger, Schulhoff, and folk music in the lobby of Ottawa City Hall.
While in rehearsals the first NACO WolfGANG Session, a few of us were asked to speak about it on camera - and as per usual, I found myself on screen. You can also see and hear bits of our performance of Ryan Lott's Beautiful Mechanical at the February 14th concert. Check it out!
Carissa is featured in an article in the Ukrainian Weekly Newspaper “New Pathway” / “Новий Шлях,” written by Stephanie Turenko. Based on an interview after a NACO concert to Toronto, just before the first WolfGANG Sessions chamber concert, the article reads as a "day in the life."
