The end of an era! For the last four years, I had the distinct privilege of performing on an exquisite 1851 Jean Baptiste Vuillaume violin, generously on loan from the Canada Council for the Arts Musical Instrument Bank. I’m forever grateful for this incredible opportunity!

Ottawa, Ontario – Ottawa Chamberfest is pleased to announce Carissa Klopoushak has been appointed Artistic Director for a 4-year term. Over the last six months, as Interim Artistic Director, Klopoushak has provided confident and innovative artistic leadership to Ottawa Chamberfest.
Ironwood, Ottawa's new "take-no-prisoners" string quartet, plays for the first time under the new moniker on Sunday, December 13th, 5pm, at The Record Centre.
Ironwood is Jessica Linnebach and Carissa Klopoushak (violins), Julia MacLaine (cello), and David Marks (viola), a quartet of curious musicians who spend most (but not all) of their musical time playing with the NAC orchestra.
While in rehearsals the first NACO WolfGANG Session, a few of us were asked to speak about it on camera - and as per usual, I found myself on screen. You can also see and hear bits of our performance of Ryan Lott's Beautiful Mechanical at the February 14th concert. Check it out!
I'm very pleased to share that I've joined Canada's National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa as of September 1, 2014. I've had the great pleasure of playing and traveling with this group extensively for the last 5 years, and am happy to make a home in this great city with these wonderful colleagues.
Here is a live video of Warhol Dervish (John Corban and Carissa Klopoushak; violins, Pemi Paul, viola; JC Lizotte, cello) playing Nico Muhly's Diacritical Marks at the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, August 4th 2012. It was part of a larger program of Works for Heart and Breath by Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire bassist), with a first half of works by Muhly, Bryce Dessner (The National), and Terry Riley. More videos to come...
This summer, I had the pleasure of playing some great chamber music with many great musicians and friends at the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, Toronto Summer Music Festival, and the Columbia Valley Chamber Music Festival in B.C.
Pictured here is a scene from the dress rehearsal of Pierrot Lunaire in the sweltering St. Brigid's in Ottawa, Warhol Dervish performing some Nico Muhly at Ottawa Chamberfest (in the same sweltering place), Warhol Dervish with violist-composer Lev Zhurbin at Toronto Summer Music (well, actually at the Duke of York), and the beautiful artists at Columbia Valley Music Festival. And for good measure, one of the view in Invermere, BC.
