The end of an era! For the last four years, I had the distinct privilege of performing on an exquisite 1851 Jean Baptiste Vuillaume violin, generously on loan from the Canada Council for the Arts Musical Instrument Bank. A copy of a Maggini, I loved the instrument's rich, resonant tone – probably due to its mini-viola size! – and its beautiful doubled purfling.

The final concerts on this instrument took place at Chamberfest, performing the horn trios by Brahms, Elizabeth Raum, and a world premiere by Simon Bourget. Here’s a great photo snapped by Curtis Perry right after the Bourget premiere.

Forever grateful for the opportunity for these incredible loans!
