I'm thrilled to see that my disc Soundworlds has been chosen as this week's CBC Radio 2 In Concert Disc of the Week.  Host Paolo Pietropaolo had some lovely things to say in the broadcast on Sunday, January 15th:

"She's put together a really compelling and fascinating collection of works for violin and piano, and she should be commended for this.  It's a debut album, and it's an independant release - and it's not just another recording of Bach, or Beethoven, or Brahms - not that those aren't lovely - but there are lots of those, and there aren't that many recordings like this one.  Carissa has brought together three sonatas all composed during WWI: the Healey Willan..., the violin sonata by the French composer Claude Debussy, and the violin sonata by the Czech composer Leos Janacek... And she's also included two more recent works by Canadian composers, a piece by Claude Vivier, composed in 1975, and a Chaconne, written by T. Patrick Carrabré in 2009."

This is an intelligent program - it’s thoughtful, it’s well thought-out, it’s well put-together - and it’s beautifully performed.
